The profile
Cassettes are folded metal trays hung from invisible clips on an aluminium subframe.
They give a flat facade with a deep recessed joint on all four sides, and they go bigger than any other panel we make, up to 875 mm wide and 4 m long. Because the tray is solid sheet metal rather than a composite, it avoids the combustibility questions attached to bonded panels. Designers specify cassettes when the module has to be large and the joint has to be crisp.
The default. Deep enough to read as a shadow line at distance without dominating the face.
A tighter or a heavier grid where the elevation calls for it.
Why specify it
From the setting out on the drawings to the warranty at handover, this is what the system gives a project.

Up to 875 mm wide and 4 m long, so a big elevation can be set out in few pieces and the grid stays generous rather than busy.

The recess runs horizontally and vertically, so the panel reads as a true grid rather than a run of boards. The joint width is a design decision.

A cassette is a folded tray in one material, tested to AS 1530.3. That keeps the fire conversation simpler than a bonded composite panel.

Panel sizes are made to the elevation rather than the other way round, so joints land on openings, floors and setbacks.

The subframe takes up tolerance in the wall behind, which is what makes cassettes work on an existing building as well as a new one.
Technical details
Cassettes hang from clips on an aluminium subframe, which is fixed back to the structure. These are our standard layers, from the face inwards.
Main structure and insulation are by others. Subframe spacing and panel sizes are confirmed for each project against the site’s wind loads.
Section through the wall layers. Not to scale.

| Metal | Thickness | Standard panel width |
|---|---|---|
Zinc (VMZINC) | 1.5 mm | Up to 875 mm widemm |
Copper (Aurubis) | 1.5 mm | Up to 875 mm widemm |
Aluminium (VESTIS, PVDF) | 1.5 mm | Up to 875 mm widemm |
Corten | 1.5 mm | Up to 875 mm widemm |
Each tray hangs from clips on an aluminium subframe. Nothing passes through the face, and a single panel can be lifted off without disturbing its neighbours.
Hung from the subframe behind the tray, with nothing visible on the face.

The questions estimators and drafters answer most often. If yours is not here, send the drawings and we will answer it against your project.
Ask about your projectA large folded metal tray, hung from invisible clips on an aluminium subframe, with a recessed joint on all four sides. It is the largest panel module we make and the one that reads as a true grid.
Up to 875 mm wide. Length depends on width: 4 m at 600 mm, 3 m at 700 mm and 2 m at 875 mm. The visible face runs from 220 mm high and 200 mm long upwards within those limits.
20 mm as standard, on all four sides. A 15 mm or 25 mm recess can be made to order where the elevation needs a tighter or heavier grid.
Scale and fixing. Interlocking panels are long and narrow and hook edge to edge straight onto top hats. Cassettes are large rectangular trays that hang on an aluminium subframe with a recess on all four sides, so the grid reads both ways.
No. A cassette is a folded tray in solid metal rather than a bonded composite, and the panels are tested to AS 1530.3. Compliance still depends on the whole wall assembly, which we confirm for each project.
Yes. The aluminium subframe takes up tolerance in the wall behind, which is what makes cassettes work on refurbishment as well as new work.
