Case study

Standing seam roof and fascia

  1. The brief

A house on the Parramatta River where the roof projects on the water side. The fascia line is the horizon of the building from the river and had to be dead straight.

  2. What we did

The fascia was folded in the longest lengths that could be transported, with joints located away from the centre of the elevation. The roof runs on a continuous deck so the edge has something solid to be fixed to.

  3. The detail

A long fascia goes wrong at the joints. Placing them off centre and backing them with a folded splice keeps the line reading as one piece from a distance.
