VM Zinc for Roofing and Cladding

Zinc, like copper, is a very long lasting material: in a rural environment this can be up to 100 years needing no maintenance or treatment throughout its lifetime, although good roof ventilation has to be ensured when designing roof construction for this to be achieved.

VM Zinc Natural

When the zinc leaves the rolling mill it has a shiny, metallic surface aspect which changes over time as a natural, semi-mat, light grey patina is formed. The natural light grey zinc has a textured, luminous quality that evokes the world of minerals. It enhances the appearance of the building from the very first day and for years to come.

VM Zinc Quartz

It offers a similar appearance as the natural patina developed over time by the Natural zinc. This surface aspect is obtained by immersing natural zinc by VMZINC in a solution which modifies the crystalline structure of the surface of the metal at a thickness of approximately one micron.

VM Zinc Anthra

This surface aspect is obtained by immersing natural zinc by VMZINC in a solution which modifies the crystalline structure of the surface of the metal at a thickness of approximately one micron. ANTHRA-ZINC is a dark grey zinc, often used with various materials because its charcoal aspect compliments this combination.

Pigmento Range

Zinc is known for its elegant shade of grey. But just imagine what a subtle shade of red, green or blue can contribute to your creation. The PIGMENTO range is produced by adding mineral pigments to a QUARTZ-ZINC substrate.

The natural texture and colours of PIGMENTO, its nuances constantly changing with the light, reflect an organic and mineral universe. It inspires new ideas and blends perfectly with other material. Here is the PIGMENTO range of VM Zinc:

Zinc is naturally resistant to corrosion, is extremely durable and does not require costly maintenance. In addition, the flexibility, malleability and versatility of zinc, combined with its pleasing appearance, make it the material of choice for imaginative building projects from individual homes to commercial complexes, public buildings and private projects.

Zinc is 100% recyclable. More than 90% of zinc used in the building industry is recycled. Zinc requires minimal to no maintenance due to its naturally forming patina which is self-protecting. Zinc lends itself to both traditional and contemporary design, whether new build or refurbishment. Architects frequently comment on how well the material blends with wood, stone and concrete, whilst also providing a contrast with the plethora of glazing finishes currently available.

As a non-ferrous metal, Zinc is naturally self-protecting. With time, it forms an attractive light grey patina. It does not rust, requires little or no maintenance, is remarkably resistant to corrosion and is perfectly watertight. Zinc offers durability and long-term cost-effectiveness, together with the potential for all types of working and shaping.
